Municipal Solid Waste Sorting Plant

Municipal Solid Waste Sorting Plant solutions from DISAN are designed for efficient separation, processing and recovery of recyclable materials from municipal solid waste.

Efficient sorting and recovery of valuable materials from municipal solid waste.

Municipal Solid Waste Sorting Plants are designed to separate mixed household and municipal waste into different material streams, supporting material recovery, recycling and further waste treatment.

Through its exclusive partnership with DISAN, Innovativa Smart Solutions provides integrated MSW sorting solutions engineered around the characteristics of the incoming waste stream and the operational requirements of each project.

The sorting process allows recyclable materials such as paper, plastics, glass and metals to be separated from organic fractions, RDF-suitable materials and residual waste. This improves material recovery and supports a more efficient approach to municipal solid waste management.

How the MSW Sorting Process Works

A typical MSW sorting process includes several stages, from waste reception through separation and final material handling.

  1. Waste Collection and Reception
Municipal solid waste is collected and delivered to the sorting facility for processing.

  2. Waste Feeding and Preparation
Incoming waste is introduced into the processing line and prepared for subsequent separation stages.

  3. Mechanical Sorting
Different technologies are used to separate waste according to size, physical characteristics and material type.

  4. Material Separation
The system separates different fractions, including recyclable materials, organic waste, RDF-suitable materials and residual waste.

  5. Baling and Material Handling
Recovered recyclable materials can be compacted into bales for easier storage, transportation and delivery to recycling facilities.

  6. Residual Waste Management
Non-recoverable fractions are directed to the appropriate final treatment or disposal route.

  7. Process Monitoring
Operational data can be monitored and analyzed to support process control and continuous improvement.
